Here is a list of actions you can take to support refugees:
- Join us for a Virtual Town Hall
- Catholic Charities is hosting a virtual town hall meeting on Tuesday, March 4 at 12 PM, where we will discuss this situation and answer questions. We understand this feels challenging, and we hope to provide clarity and assurance. While you will be able to ask questions at the meeting, we encourage you to submit questions ahead of time using this link. If you are unable to attend, a recording of the meeting will be available upon request.
- Donate
- Government funding has already decreased, impacting our refugee resettlement program. We anticipate these funding decreases will continue, threatening our ability to provide services to refugees who are already in the country. Your gift helps us continue our work.
- Volunteer
- Get in touch with us at giving@ccoc.us to learn more about volunteer opportunities, including English classes, citizenship classes, gathering hygiene products, helping read mail, and more. Send an email to volunteer@ccoc.us to let us know your interests.
- Get involved
- Volunteer at Catholic Charities’ Refugee Resettlement program
- Participate in events – Local organizations may hold vigils and gatherings in support of refugees. You can watch for these events in the news and social media.
- Speak out – Refugees are being maligned in the national dialogue. You can be a force for truth and hope simply by speaking out about why you believe welcoming refugees is our moral duty, in addition to being a benefit to the community.
