Hawley-ween: Pre-K Trick-or-Treating at HYO

Happy Halloween! Our Hawley Youth Organization Pre-K class had a great time trick-or-treating around the building this afternoon. It was a special class including Wonder Woman, Rainbow Dash, Donatello, Batman and many more super heros, witches, vampires, airline pilots and princesses. Thanks to the staff and HYO neighbors who helped make such a great afternoon! Click through the gallery below for a look at the fun.

Our Pre-K program provides education and recreation from over 300 Syracuse kids every school day. All classes include snacks and full-day classes provide lunch. Most of the kids are from low-income neighborhoods and many speak a language other than English at home. (The language of candy, it seems, is universally understood.) Our Pre-K classes are a vital part of our strategy to reduce poverty in Syracuse; kids who attend Pre-K are more likely to do well in school and to graduate from high school, positioning them for success as adults.
