Happy Halloween! Our Hawley Youth Organization Pre-K class had a great time trick-or-treating around the building this afternoon. It was a special class including Wonder Woman, Rainbow Dash, Donatello, Batman and many more super heros, witches, vampires, airline pilots and princesses. Our Pre-K program provides education and recreation from over 300 Syracuse kids every school day. All classes include snacks and full-day classes provide lunch. Most of the kids are from low-income neighborhoods and many speak a language other than English at home. (The language of candy, it seems, is universally understood.) Our Pre-K classes are a vital part of our strategy to reduce poverty in Syracuse; kids who attend Pre-K are more likely to do well in school and to graduate from high school, positioning them for success as adults. Â
